Pastor James Mack
Pastor James Mack grew up in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia. Both of his parents, Deacon Jerone and Deaconess Deborah Mack instilled in him from a very young age to always show reverence to God. One of his favorite verses is Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Reverend Mack was baptized on April 9, 1995 at Corinthian Baptist Church of Germantown. He attended and graduated from Corinthian Christian Academy, Blair Christian Academy and Imhotep Institute Charter High School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pittsburgh where he became a proud member of the oldest African American college fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. Additionally, he received his license to preach in September 2011 under the pastorate of Reverend Dr. Ronald K. Hill. In May of 2016, he completed and received his Master of Divinity Degree and Certificate of Black Church Studies from The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.
Professionally, Reverend Mack was employed by the oldest African American newspaper, The Philadelphia Tribune, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southeastern Pennsylvania. He has written two motivational opinion columns for the Philadelphia Tribune, which are as follows: “Wake Up Young Brother” that was published in the Philadelphia Tribune in December 2009 and “Become a Mentor” in March of 2010. Furthermore, Reverend Mack has held other jobs such as insurance claims representative and hospital chaplain. Not only has Reverend Mack served as the Youth Minister of the St. Paul’s Baptist Church, he completed hospital chaplain internships at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Delaware and Reading Health System. Reverend Mack served as St. Paul’s Youth Minister from 2014-2018. While serving at St. Paul’s Baptist Church, Reverend Mack led worship, proclaimed God’s Word, led a team of committed volunteer staff in developing curriculum, taught Sunday School, led youth activities, events to aid in the spiritual growth of children, teenagers, and adults, and received St. Paul’s Man of the Year Award in 2018. Currently, he serves as a Hospital Chaplain at Holy Redeemer Health System.
